Submission
Caleb Hill
It really is submission, nothing business
only personal, your work, your words, your
beating blood, strain of cold sweat, time,
panic and relief in brief but endless seconds, sinking
to one knee beneath the sceptre of someone else’s
eye, authority, and pen, all on the belief that,
whatever comes to pass, nothing can truly live
unless it is willing to be judged and die.
Caleb Hill is a cybersecurity technician by day, poet around the clock. He used to write part of the monthly tech newsletter, but he was having too much fun and his future services were quietly declined. He has been writing poetry since his father taught him the haiku on his 8th birthday. He lives in central Pennsylvania.
